Swinburne’s Staff Giving program enables you to contribute to Swinburne initiatives using automatic pre-tax payroll deductions. As an employee, you have the option to set up regular donations of your chosen amount to specific areas each pay cycle.
Even modest fortnightly contributions can accumulate into a substantial impact over time, generating meaningful change in student lives and Swinburne’s for-purpose research agenda. There are no concealed fees – every cent of your payroll donation will be directed entirely to your selected fund for high impact giving.
Small Effort, Big Impact
$12.02 donation = $8.11 net cost
Workplace giving is the easiest and most cost effective way to support Swinburne students and research. Giving through your pre-tax salary means it costs you less, but Swinburne still receives your total donation. E.g., if you earn more than $50,000 and give $12.02 to Swinburne per fortnight, the net cost of the donation is only $8.11. Source: Donation tax calculator.
$6 Coffee per week = 100+ Scholarships
Fun fact: If every Swinburne Staffer (3,250) donated just the cost of 1 large flat white coffee per week ($6), we could collectively raise over $1m annually, providing 100+ scholarships with wrap-around support. Source: Coffee Price Index.

Swinburne Staff Scholarships Fund
We strive to ensure all aspirant students have access and opportunity to a quality education at Swinburne, regardless of personal circumstances. Swinburne adopts a holistic approach to recognising circumstances that have made it hard for students to do their best at study, and encourages donors to also adopt this broad approach. Swinburne’s access scholarships eligibility criteria:
- Personal information and location, such as age, recognition as an Indigenous Australian, living or school location, under-represented schools, under-represented genders, non-English speaking backgrounds and first in family learners.
- Disadvantaged financial background, such as economic hardship, family poverty, Centrelink benefits and excessive financial obligations.
- Disability or medical conditions.
- Difficult circumstances such as refugee or asylum seekers status, homelessness, care leavers, sever family disruption, abusive living environment and other circumstances that have created hardship.
